벽에 고요히 걸린 그림들의 기운은 움직인다. 모였다 흩어지기도 하고, 묶였다 풀리기도 한다. 마주하는 매 순간, 그 움직임 가운데 선다.
망각에 의해 끊임없이 퇴색 중인 기억, 그렇게 유동하는 기억들의 세계를 가시 영역에 드러내는 그림은, 그 또한 스스로 하나의 상태, 인상, 양상, 사건이 될 수 있을지 생각해 본다.
기억은 단일하기보다 다층적이고, 고정되기보다 흔들린다. 생의 일부였던 장면들은 망각의 작용 속에서 알 수 없는 방향으로 편집되고 다시 구성된다. 망각은 소실이기보다 또 다른 창조다.
확정된 모습을 누구도 알 수 없는 기억의 세계는 그 자체로 추상이다. 기억의 조각들—선명한 것, 흐려진 것, 짜깁기된 것, 형체를 잃은 것 등—은 장면이 아닌 색과 형상으로, 윤곽과 덩어리로 회화에 담긴다. 서사는 배제되고, 그림은 그림으로서-공간으로서-세계로서 오롯이 선다. 그리고 모여서는 하나의 흐름, 기운 안에서 공명한다.
그림 안팎에 겹과 결이 있다. 기억 조각들이 겹겹이 부유하며 결을 이루고, 물감의 흔적이 겹치고 맞닿은 단면의 질감들이 결을 이룬다. 하나의 그림은 하나의 겹이 되어 함께 큰 결을 이루고, 우리는 그 사이에 머문다. 봄(seeing)으로써 일부가 된다.

Into the Grains
The quiet energy of the paintings hanging on the wall is not still—it moves. It gathers, then disperses; binds, then loosens. With each encounter, one stands amid this silent motion.
Painting, as a way of revealing the world of memory—ever fading under the persistent workings of forgetting—raises a question: might the paintings themselves become a state, an impression, a phenomenon, an event?
Memory is not singular but layered, not fixed but wavering. Scenes once lived—once part of life—are edited and reconstructed in unknowable directions through the workings of forgetting. Forgetting, then, is not merely a loss; it is another kind of creation.
The world of memory, whose definitive form no one can fully know, is itself abstract. In my paintings, fragments of memory—vivid, faded, montaged, or formless—are not rendered as scenes, but as color and shape, contour and mass. Narrative is set aside, and each painting stands in its fullness—as painting, as space, as world—yet together, they resonate within a shared current, a unified atmosphere.
Within and beyond the painting, there are layers and grains. Fragments of memory drift through overlapping layers, forming delicate grains. Traces of paint accumulate in layers, and the tactile surfaces where they meet generate subtle grains. Each painting becomes a single layer, contributing to a larger field of grain. And we find ourselves dwelling within it. By seeing, we become a part of it.
